Atheists Desperately Want Bibles, Use Porn As Fair Trade
Atheists want Christians to trade in their Bibles for pornography. “Smut for smut” they call it. Could this actually be some Freudian ploy on their part? Could it be that atheists are really desperate and crying out for salvation and they are only pretending to use this event as a way to lead Christians astray, when in reality they want help from these same Christians? After-all, they criticize the Bible all the time over its own “smut”. If you can lead a Christian and an atheist to porn – can you make the Christian “drink” the porn? Would you need to make the atheist “drink” the porn? Watch the video:

Especially since a majority of atheists in this country have read the bible. And a fair number cite reading the book as a reason for them now being atheists.

Christians lose faith for many reasons, just as atheists find faith for many reasons. Is it really the Bible, or other, outside, influences causing that?

Genocides: Midianites, Yahweh drowning everyone in the world.
Killing and rape: “And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? … Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.” Numbers 31
I anticipated your response being along this line. Now, either God, “Yahweh” drowned everyone (save the eight, and two of each animal) in a global flood, or he didn’t. If that actually happened – you have a point neither I, or anyone else can counterpoint. On the other hand, if that didn’t happen, if it is more allegory and metaphor, and myth, than anything else, then why use that as bases for rejecting and denouncing the Bible?
Atheists rejects Moses even existed. If he didn’t exist, then none of Numbers 31, and whole bunch more passages, have any real basis. On the other hand, it was fairly common practice in that time when one tribe went to war against another, they would slaughter the males, including the male children – so that they would not have a chance to grow up and exact revenge. The women and girls were generally absorbed into the society, depending on certain practices and rites. In other words, assuming this is all fact, (or based in part on some fact) which at this point there is no reason to doubt it is not, the Hebrews of that age were doing no different than any other culture.
That God commanded it, or that Moses (or whoever) perceived that God had commanded it is circumstantial and very sketchy. God may very well be an innocent party in all this.

So what? I can write a story full of smut and pornography and murder and genocide, and with all fictional characters. The fact that it’s fictional doesn’t mean it’s not smut.
The “smut” you refer to is, in part, a history of a people struggling to survive. They, the Hebrews, were not well liked back then by their neighbors. (not like now, right?) In any event, they occupied land other cultures wanted. The Hebrews could have left for “greener” pastures, perhaps. They could have laid down their arms and surrendered their territory, their lands to other cultures and hoped for the best. They chose to fight. Whether they believed they were being willed to do so by God, or not, is irrelevant and cannot ever be known.
What society in all of human history has not engaged in the kind of “smut” you decry. What society and culture and peoples in all of human history has been the center of more “smut” – rape, killings and genocide – than Jews?
The Jews (Hebrews) wrote down their history, and probably embellished it to an extant they did not, at the time, see as being “smut” or controversial, but mainstream and normal, in the context of the world and the age in which they lived.

Sorry. You don’t get anywhere with the ‘everybody else does it, so it’s fine if we do it!’ argument.
Any story of a group of people going around killing, raping and committing genocide is smut. Whether its the Hebrews or the Romans.
Now I, for one, don’t think smut is necessarily a bad thing. But it fits the label.
My intent was not to get away with” anything, but to illustrate that the Hebrews were waging war in the same way as every other culture. Killing the males and absorbing the women was common. If you abhor the Hebrews doing it, you must abhor every other culture that did it. What culture can you name that hasn’t engaged in the time of warfare you condemn the Hebrews for having waged? And why is it fair to single out the Hebrews and not the thousands of other cultures?
And if you do abhor that type of warfare – you must really hate what the Muslims are trying to do to the Jews, and have been trying to do for decades.

They are exchanging porn for Christian Bibles. Or, would they openly, in public, and on video, accept the Qur’an for porn also?

In other words, you call the Christian Bible “smut” because doing so does not put you in fear of your life. But you dare not take a stance on the Qur’an, and call it “smut”, because you know doing so will entice violence and all the “killings, rapes and genocides” you condemn the Bible for writing about. Does that about sum it up?
Um…no.
The Qur’an is full of just as must smut as the Bible. I’m no more afraid of Muslims in our country than I am in your average Christian, so it doesn’t matter to me to say so.
Good. Then, for the record, for the benefit of “all those Muslims in America”, and for the rest of the Muslims living outside of America, let it be known that The Neosecularist and Not A Scientist agree that the Qur’an is full of smut. Now – we wait…
I find this very interesting. The Biblical accounts reflect something that did happen. I find it interesting that those who say there is no moral absolutes (as does Dawkins) can look upon these stories from a modern western and human outlook, and say that they have the ability to fully understand and morally judge those situations. The midianites, the Egyptians (remember the Bible also says that the Egyptians also killed children) were not innocent cultures. Those in those cultures who were innocent (Children and the like, being under the old covenant) would have been better off in eternal heaven as it was.
Also if you take the Bible in it’s entirety (as you are talking about the Christian Bible) we believe that Christ died so that the wrath of God, would no longer take the form of wiping out the entire human race or a single group of people. Christians are adherants of the New Covenant which is the Covenant of forgiveness. (1 Corinthians 11).
But the fact that they are giving out pornography is hypocritical to say the least. As we know that that industry is rife with rape kidnapping forced prostitution not to mention the subjegation of women.
The difference is that the porn industry is doing that today. And nothing good will come from it.
These atheists are protesting what was done thousands of years ago, by propogating something worse today!
